A Historic Start to Black History Month

February 1, 2026 was an extraordinary day for Bethel Presbyterian Church. First we started with our Black history celebration talking about our founding pastor Rev. Robert Lee Maffet. He pastored Bethel for 21 years. He started our mission journey walking and working with the community. He wrote a book that was published in 1950 titled “The Kingdom Within” a study of the American race prolem and its silutions. Our day continued with our sermon by Dr. Rev. Delrio Ligons-Berry semon titled “Good Trouble” talking from Micah 6:1-8 and Matthew 5:1-12 addressing things we can do work against injustices today. Then the Bethel Food Ministry Program was recognized by The National Black Presbyterian Caucus, Philadelphia Chapter and Presbytery of Philadelphia. We the members of Bethel are greatful for this day of crlebration and for God’s direction as we continue to work in our mission field assigned by God. Thank you to all our supporters and helpers. Matthew 25:35
